Child mental health and resilience building workshops

If your child struggles socially, finds it difficult to make or maintain friendships, worries often, gets easily stressed, struggles to control their temper, has/is self-harming, has suffered any type of bereavement or trauma or generally you find them to be very sensitive - then these sessions are perfect for them.

We understand no child is the same, some have very different needs to the next and because of this there is no “one size fits all” in the way of mental health support.

Our sessions will be designed specifically around the children who attend, with a mixture of mental health and emotional resilience learning, opportunities to build on their social and communication skills and some arts and crafts thrown in for fun - each child will gain invaluable knowledge and applicable skills that will help them through any issues they may be facing or have to face in the future.

There are only ever 12 children at a time on each age category, so for any children who are socially anxious it is a smaller, more intimate group.

£30 deposit to be paid here (which allows your child a one-hour session with a therapist to asses them so we can ensure they get the best support from the groups) and then the sessions are £10 a week which you can pay when you drop them off. There is no time limit to how long your child can come for!

Transitioning to high school - Support workshop for year 7’s

Starting high school can be very daunting for children. It is a huge step up from primary age school and some children find it harder to adjust than others. This drop-in workshop will span over the first two school terms of the year and will help those less resilient children build their confidence, social skills, self-esteem and ability to socialise and maintain new friendship groups in a high school setting. There are only 12 places on this workshop, so for any children who are socially anxious it is a smaller, more intimate group.

The sessions are £10 a week which you can pay when you drop them off. There is no time limit to how long your child can come for! Please email us here for your child's place.

The right side of Chronic - Support for living with a chronic medical condition (adults)

Just because you have a diagnosis and are taking the correct medication for a chronic medical condition doesn't mean that living with it day to day isn't difficult. From fibromyalgia to cardiovascular diseases, smoking-related health issues to diabetes, arthritis to asthma, we understand living with some of these conditions can not only be life-limiting but also at times frustrating. Our support network will give you a chance to meet other people who have the same difficulties and build a connection with people that understand how you feel. We will have sessions with visits from nurses and other medical professionals who will be able to advise you on different methods of coping with your problems and possibly living a much fuller life - regardless of your chronic condition.

Come along and meet other people in a similar situation and see if you can learn new coping techniques or self-soothing methods to help you accept that 'this is me!'

There is no such thing as a perfect parent!! – 6-week behaviour management and parenting workshop

One of the biggest challenge’s a parent can face is managing difficult or defiant behaviour on the part of children. Whether they’re refusing to put on their shoes or throwing full-blown tantrums, you can find yourself at a loss for an effective way to respond (after all we are all human!!!)

For parents at their wit's end, behavioural therapy techniques can provide a road map to calmer, more consistent ways to manage problem behaviours and offer a chance to help children develop gain the developmental skills they need to regulate their own behaviours.

These sessions will explore these techniques and how mindfulness parenting can produce fewer negative emotions and more shared positive emotion with their children in difficult conversations.

We know some people may be hesitant to attend these sessions because of social stigma that if you ask for help “you are failing as a parent”, but in all honesty most of us are just winging it!! The aim of these workshop sessions is to learn, share and support each other through what is probably one of the hardest jobs on the planet – being a parent!

A 6-hour CPD certificate will be awarded on completion.

The 6-week workshop is £60.

Enlightened mind

These are beginners’ classes for meditation and mindfulness.

These are some of the benefits of meditation:

Improved concentration – A clear mind makes you more productive, especially in creative disciplines like writing.

Less bothered by little things – Do you sometimes allow yourself to get upset by little things? It is the nature of the mind to magnify small things into serious problems. Meditation helps us detach. We learn to live in the here and now, rather than worrying about the past or future. We do not worry about meaningless things but see the bigger picture.

Better Health – There have been numerous studies pointing to the health benefits of meditation. The reason is that meditation reduces stress levels and alleviates anxiety. If we can reduce stress, many health benefits follow.

Knowledge of Self – Meditation enables us to have a deeper understanding of our inner self. Through meditation, we can gain a better understanding of our life’s purpose.

If you meditate regularly then you are more than welcome to come as your input could be helpful for your peers, however, we will be starting with the basics. There is a maximum 8 people in the classes plus the instructor.

£10 per week, pay as you come (Please visit here to book your place)

Mums' retreat

Post and pre-natal depression are very real threats for mothers around the world. It can affect married mums, single mums or any other type of mum! We have created this group for mums and female carers of children (pregnant mums too) because no mum should ever feel like she has no one to turn to. Being a mum is exhausting and sometimes if we aren't functioning at our best, we can't be the best for our kids. Come and say hi, meet new people and take a little time out for yourself - you are more than welcome to bring your young children too!!! We have coffee, we have cake and mostly importantly we have very good listening skills. We are all experiencing the same volatile journey that is parenthood and this group is friendly and non-judgemental.
