For many people the festive season is a happy time, providing a chance to to relax, reconnect with family and friends and celebrate the year that’s coming to an end. But for some, this just isn’t the case.
Christmas can feel difficult for many people, due different types of stresses, life situations, financial obligations, familial problems and much more.
Our Christmas appeal was suggested by one of our 8-year-old young people who wanted to help others less fortunate than her! This gave us a wonderful idea.
“The reason for the season” has only one goal in mind, to bring a smile to people who may need it the most.
We will be pledging all our profit from our child workshops through November and December to buy sweets, gifts and other Christmas bits to make up treat bags and Christmas boxes for the most vulnerable in our community.
These will be organised and decorated by our young people and distributed in December to local children’s homes, churches, homeless shelter and other local organisations where they can be gifted to people who deserve a little box or bag of happiness over the festive period.
The children have made lists for the things they want to include, and we will be buying age appropriate gifts to accompany the boxes from information we have been handed by other organisations.
With the money from our workshops we will be able to include some lovely little surprises but we would like to add more to these and also be able to put together as many as we can.
We are asking for a £5 donation from as many people as possible to help us create more of these parcels. All donations will be used only for this purpose.
We will post weekly updates and pictures so the local community can keep up to date with our progress 😊
Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!
